Sleep Cycle is an amazing app that graphs your sleeping patterns over the night, allowing you to view and analyse in the morning, to see what makes you tired, or just see how you sleep for fun.


Sleep Cycle works by detecting movement on the mattress, and can be tested by selecting the bottom tab named 'Test'.

Plug it into a wall charger, then choose the alarm, which works in a 30min bracket, for example if I set the alarm to 7:30am, it will wake me up between 7:00am and 7:30am. Place the iDevice next to your pillow face down (See screenshots), and press start.

Sleep Cycle will then wake you up somewhere within that 30min bracket depending on where I'm in my lightest sleep, as to not wake you up while you're in deep sleep, leaving you tired for the slow day ahead.

Press the home button to close the app/alarm, then open it back up to view your graph. You will be presented with a column displaying 'Awake', 'Asleep' and 'Deep Asleep', where the graphing will rise and drop showing you where you were in deep sleep, and the parts where you were nearing to be awake etc.

After being doubtful about the app, I downloaded it and was amazed, it seemed very accurate and I was waking up some times throughout the night, showing it was the cause of tiredness. Most times when people wake up during the night, they can't remember doing that the next day, which this app manages to do just fine.

I am continuing to use it to this day, as it shows sleep time, total time and Average total time across the nights you have been using it.

Everyone should have this app, it is quite 'fun' to use and I look forward to going to bed.

There is one fallback. I don't understand how the app works when you're just resting in bed before sleeping, not moving much at all. Wouldn't it think you're asleep? If someone knows the answer, please reply in the comments.

Sleep Cycle is definately worth the asking price of $1.19.
